Hanuman (Blue)

Hanuman (Blue)

3–color serigraph on bristol, 14x11", 2017. The Hanuman is a cultural/religious icon in many Hindu and Buddhist cultures. This print was a way to experiment with colors and how they would interact aesthetically and physically, due to the layering of water-based inks. The process also allowed exploration of different methods and materials to develop the layers of colors. This image was also printed using two other color palettes and is currently being used in another work in progress.

Concerto Veraniego

Concerto Veraniego

Two–color silkscreen print on bristol, 14x11", 2016. The color and the cicada imagery of this print are meant to pay homage to the aura of late summer in Minnesota when the cicadas calls can be heard. The wings of the cicada become part of the landscape while the rays of the late summer sun also double as sound waves.

Potnia Theron

Potnia Theron

Two–color silkscreen print on bristol, 14x11", 2016. Created in response to an assignment regarding linguistic reclamation of pejoratives, particularly those aimed at women. The imagery of the wolf and the women who cross to form a weapon reflect the etymology of "Bitch," a pejorative used to denigrate both women and men. The piece illustrates the cycle of harm that continues through the use of the pejorative by both sexes.
